'I didn't want to live': Aima recalls mental health journey in detail
(Web Desk) – Aima Baig, a renowned singer, openly admitted that she made an attempt on her life after facing criticism and online abuse for her relationship while also sharing her struggles with arthritis and the bullying she experienced as a result of her illness.
In a climate of intense scrutiny and hatred, Aima Baig, a ‘sensitive and kind person’, revealed her battle with mental health.
The singer was involved in a scandal that gained widespread attention for all the wrong reasons, and the accompanying online criticism had a detrimental effect on her mental health.
She admitted, "I tried to end my life. I had no desire to live. I am a very sensitive, soft-hearted person because of who I am and I found it very difficult to tolerate online bullying.”
AAima talked about how this encounter had a profound impact on her and brought up the possibility of suicide.
“Not only did I experience all the criticism and hostility, but also my brother, my father, and my sisters also suffered from it.”
Aima also recalled her Umrah experience at that time and how it helped her heal and shift her outlook. Umrah took place at the time when she was going through a tough phase.
She recalled the beautiful journey and said, “One wonderful day, my father simply entered my room and asked, "Beta, want to go for Umrah?" I responded, "Yes."
Aima candidly discussed her struggles with arthritis and the insensitivity she experienced from people in addition to her struggles with mental health.
She talked about the difficulties she encountered, particularly the mockery and humiliation she experienced because of her physical condition during a public shot.
Despite the offensive remarks, she urged people, particularly women, to get medical help rather than give in to social pressures or prejudices.
